The project provides legal assistance to those who wish to file a complaint or seek legal assistance in a case outside the asylum procedure, and supports those who are criminalised seeking safety. These cases may include, but are not limited to, denial of access to essential health services, neglect by health professionals, unlawful detention, detention with inadequate facilities, and cases of sexual abuse and violence. As the organization continues to expand and grow, we are looking for an Assistant Case Officer to support the two lawyers on the team on the ground. A joint initiative of several grassroots organizations operating in Samos founded the Human Rights Legal Project (HRLP) in early 2020. The main intention is to focus on litigation and representation in cases of alleged human rights violations on behalf of asylum seekers and refugees in the context of the Greek asylum procedure, as well as on defending criminalized persons during migration.
