The Hispanic Commission finds a definition in the ABA`s collective mission to defend freedom and pursue justice, and has pursued it as a presidential initiative for two years. Meanwhile, the Hispanic Commission has sought to analyze and develop solutions regarding the most important legal issues affecting Latinos, the largest segment of the U.S. population. The Hispanic Commission looked at key issues such as the right to vote, immigration, civil rights and access to justice. The goal of the summit was to highlight and discuss transnational legal issues affecting Hispanic communities across North America. This year`s summit focused mainly on immigration, the economy, trade and the environment. The Business and Trade Committee reviewed the recent USMCA and what it means for certain sectors of the North American economy, including tourism, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, and the automotive industry. The virtual event, which takes place online, includes a comedy by Michael Freed, president of the National Conference of Bar Presidents, and five musical performances, including Dallas` « Off the Record. » Off the Record includes three Texas lawyers — vocalist Jaime Mata and bassist Steve Klimacek, in-house attorneys at AT&T, and keyboardist Price Collins, managing partner at Wilson Elser in Dallas. The band will play a rendition of a Santana favorite. Gabriel focuses on assisting clients in intellectual property, insurance, construction and general commercial litigation. He brings a spirit of collaboration and a sincere commitment to customer service to his work. Gabriel has been actively involved with the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association (MHBA) since law school and is currently a member of the MHBA Board of Directors and the Judicial Approval Committee, among others.

He also maintains an active pro bono practice that represents families and individuals in housing and immigration matters, primarily in asylum and naturalization proceedings, and assists local Latinx artists on copyright and trademark issues. The Environmental Expert Panel discussed the future of the Paris Agreement and other international efforts to address climate change, the relaxation of environmental regulations in the United States, the use of Indigenous partnerships for economic growth in Canada, and the tension between economic development and environmental protection in Mexico and other parts of Latin America. The expert group also provided an overview of regulatory trends and provided an update on existing cap-and-trade systems.
