The objective of the Legal Trainee Scheme is to provide legal trainees with practical training in accordance with the requirements of the Law Society of Hong Kong or the Hong Kong Bar Association and to enable them to gain experience in various types of legal work by government lawyers. This is a unique training program where you can get an insight into the work of a government consultant and a lawyer in private practice. As part of the training program, an articling student (lawyer) is seconded to a private law firm to serve a completely different clientele for six months. We will try to ensure that the intern works in a company of his choice and in the fields that interest him. Similarly, we will try to connect a trainee (lawyer) with a number of chambers of his choice to learn directly from a lawyer in private practice. The Oregon Department of Justice employs about 80 law students to provide legal support to assistant attorneys general. The usual duties of a trainee lawyer are to conduct library research or investigate facts and provide a written product. The Oregon Department of Justice employs more than 300 excellent lawyers. Our goal is to be the best public law firm in the country.
