Availability: Extremely rare. This was found on an Argentinian video by Secret Squirrel. The original version was found on Futureworld and the 1st edition of Predator. The « Video Niño » variant was seen during Yogi`s first Christmas. It was a children`s division of Gativideo (then Legal Video) which distributed Hanna-Barbera cartoons from early 1986 to 1988. Of course, the description also applies to the « movies » variant without frogs. Logo: On a black background, we see a pair of women`s eyes. After at least four seconds, a yellow grid moves upwards and a bulb with a weak flame both fades. As the logo progresses, sparks move through the bulb, then many animated flames appear to form the silhouette of a treadmill carrying boxes, and disappear after the appearance of a yellow flash with a solid 8-pointed white star in the center.
The legal video text from earlier in white unfolds and settles under the eyes and the grid/bulb fades. The prototype of the Gativideo logo in yellow appears at the top and remains for ten seconds before finally fading to black. Nicknames: « Lady in the Lamp », « Tempting Eyes », « Ilegal Video » FX/SFX: First mixing effects, with dragon computer-controlled scrolling, logo template and video feedback tracks. Very cheap animation, even for its time. Music/Sounds: An excerpt from « Generando » by Pastoral, accompanied by a thunderclap and an explosion sound. Variations: For children`s publications, a lime green circle with the text « Video Niño » (or « Video Child » in English) is displayed. At the top of this circle are symbols representing two smiling faces. Availability: Visible on future versions of the company.
It appeared on My Science Project`s Spanish prints with the Touchstone Home Video logo from the following era. This has also appeared on some Walt Disney Home video releases such as Rock n`Roll Mom. Legacy: It is certainly obvious that this was not created for children. With the very strange nature and in your face, the ideas that don`t suit a logo, and the incredibly cheap and strange effects (including the fact that the woman`s eyes become smaller when the grid fades and come back at the end), it can definitely give a child nightmares. Availability: Seen on previous versions of Legal Video from this period. FX/SFX: The flames (made in traditional cels), the grid, the text. Similar techniques to the 1st logo, but it looks like an improvement over before. On the other hand, it still seems cheap. Nicknames: « Chinese Dragon in Argentina », « Ranita », « Ugly Frog » Legacy: The logo isn`t exactly nice to kids with the weird animation, pixelated dragon, synth music, and even the icon (which looks more like a weird frog), perhaps because it wasn`t really designed for kids.
Music/Sounds: A futuristic synth theme with zaps and xylophone notes. Logo: On a pink background, we see the logo of the legal video being erased. It consists of a white box with the words « LV » side-out in pink at the top and « LEGAL VIDEO » in a futuristic pink code font on the left, and when we stand on the right, we see a pink box side-out with the word « SA » on it. Logo: On a black background, a highly pixelated Chinese dragon scrolls down green/yellow/orange. As it scrolls, a metal rectangle flips over and also zooms in. There is the text « LEGAL VIDEO S.A. » in a very « futuristic » font, with a large cutout in the lower right corner, as well as the large letter « LV » at the top right. Once the dragon leaves the screen, the logo drops for a second, causing streaks to swipe the screen from the bottom edges. The scratches would fade later in the end.
